Oman's Hydrogen Highway: OQGN and Fluxys Pave the Way

Muscat, Monday, 19 May 2025.
OQ Gas Networks and Fluxys are building a renewable hydrogen pipeline in Oman. This marks a leap towards a cleaner energy future, benefiting Oman and Europe in the process.
Oman’s Green Revolution
In a bold move towards energy transformation, OQ Gas Networks (OQGN) and Belgium’s Fluxys have joined forces to create a renewable hydrogen pipeline in Oman. This landmark agreement, formalised on 19 May 2025, is set to not only bolster Oman’s hydrogen infrastructure but also promise greener energy solutions for Europe [1][2][3][4].
Partnerships Driving Innovation
OQGN’s CEO, Eng. Mansoor bin Ali Al Abdali, shared that this cooperation is a testament to Oman’s commitment to leading in green hydrogen development. Meanwhile, Pascal De Buck, CEO of Fluxys, highlighted the partnership’s role in revolutionising energy transition by linking Oman’s renewable hydrogen pipeline to Belgium and Europe [2][3].
Bridging Markets with Green Energy
The pipeline aims to connect Oman’s hydrogen production facilities to global markets, enhancing trade in green hydrogen. This project aligns perfectly with Oman’s ‘Oman 2040’ vision and is expected to offer a cost-effective, scalable solution for hydrogen transport [1][4][5].
A Step Towards Decarbonisation
Both companies had previously cemented their intent to collaborate through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2023. This cooperation plays into Fluxys’ broader strategy to engage in low-carbon energy projects, effectively showcasing how international partnerships can hasten the path to a sustainable future [3][4].
