Hydrogen Council Welcomes Powerhouse Trio to Boost Innovation
Brussels, Tuesday, 17 December 2024.
Masdar, Siemens Energy, and Yara Clean Ammonia join the Hydrogen Council board, marking a pivotal moment in hydrogen advancement. Their collaboration promises to accelerate the global energy transition.
Strategic Expansion
I’m excited to share that the Hydrogen Council is strengthening its leadership with three industry giants. On December 16, 2024, they announced Masdar, Siemens Energy, and Yara Clean Ammonia as new board members, set to take their positions from January 1, 2025 [1]. What makes this particularly noteworthy is Masdar’s appointment as the first Board member from the Middle East [1], bringing crucial regional perspectives to the table.
Industry Leaders Unite
The Council’s impressive reach now spans 140 companies across 20 countries, representing approximately $9 trillion in market capitalisation and $6.4 trillion in revenues [1]. I find it particularly encouraging to see the re-election of industry stalwarts like Air Liquide, Anglo American, Cummins Inc., and Toyota Motor Corporation [1]. As Hans Olav Raen, CEO of Yara Clean Ammonia, aptly points out, ‘Growing the hydrogen industry will require collaboration and partnerships across the value chains’ [1].
Future Focus
In my analysis of recent developments, the timing couldn’t be better. Anne-Laure Parrical de Chammard from Siemens Energy highlights a crucial point: ‘While we all agree that the energy transition will not succeed without clean molecules, we face numerous challenges and uncertainties as we grow our new industry’ [1]. The Council has been proactive, implementing what Ivana Jemelkova, CEO of the Hydrogen Council, describes as ‘a robust plan for the Hydrogen Council’s next chapter focused on shaping the right environment for accelerated project execution’ [1].
